DESCRIPTION
Location: is located in Călimani National Park, in the former brimstone quarry area.
Starting point: former brimstone quarry parking.
The trail tells the tale of the brimstone quarry in the Călimani massif, a gigantic project of the former communist regime, which was proven economically unviable. The quarry was closed at the end of the 1990s, but not before making an entire mountain disappear, leaving a scar visible for hundreds of years. The trail is easily accessible, and you can drive up to the parking area near the quarry. The trail follows a footpath for about 30 minutes, along which four English and Romanian interpretative panels are located.
