Riding on the Mocănița steam train on Vaserului Valley

The Forestry Railway in Vișeu de Sus is both industrial and cultural heritage. This railway still runs with steam engines, fueled by wood and coal. This makes the Forestry Railway in Vișeu de Sus known worldwide as the last active forestry railway using steam-powered engines.

From May to October, following a preset schedule, the tourists can enjoy the regular steam trains as well as special events like the Maramureș Brunch, full moon trains, classical music concerts or the New Year’s Eve party.
