DESCRIPTION
Pădurea Craiului is perfect for light hiking and for beginner hikers or families with children. Although it offers a rather extensive network of trails, the area is not well known hiking destination due to the absence of towering peaks and to the location of natural sights at its extremities, in easily accessible places. However, the most remarkable ones are the northern hiking trails, in the Crișului Repede Gorge, or those making the connection with Stâna de Vale. The main access points are located in the North (Șuncuiuș and Vadu Crișului) and in the South (Meziad).
Pădurea Craiului, although not impressive by its elevation, is a karstic mountainous area unique in Romania, with widespread karstic plateaus riddled with sinkholes, valleys and gorges, caves and swallow-holes.
