DESCRIPTION
Every year, on January 2, authentic Romania passes by here. Dozens of bands of urators parade through the center of the only city in the Land of the Bison, with traditional masks, impressive costumes and rituals passed down from generation to generation: bears, goats, arnauts, the Plow with oxen, processions of customs specific to the beginning of the year.
Thousands of people come to admire them – a direct immersion in a living heritage. The sound of drums and bulls, the synchronized movement of the bears, the collective energy of the bands of urators create an intense atmosphere, hard to find in other urban areas.
It is one of the most consistent festivals of customs in Romania, with a history of over three decades.
