Transilvania Bike Trails (TBT)

DESCRIPTION

Transilvania Bike Trails is a network covering 100 km of mountain bike trails, which has been built from scratch by ADEPT Transilvania Foundation, as part of a project funded by a Swiss grant, through Switzerland’s Contribution to the enlarged EU.

This network links eight Transylvanian Saxon villages with fortified churches (Viscri, Bunești, Criț, Meșendorf, Cloașterf, Saschiz, Archita and Daia), with their local landscapes and churches, as well as the most important tourist attraction, the medieval city of Sighișoara. The trails cover mostly woodlands, but they also cross pastures, scenic viewpoints or Saxon village lanes. They provide a great opportunity to discover interesting things and to learn about the natural diversity and richness of the Transylvanian Highlands ecotourism destination, as information panels about the flora and fauna have been installed in certain areas.

ADEPT Transilvania Foundation has been working for more than 10 years to protect and promote the nature-rich, farmed landscapes and traditional values of Romania, nationally and internationally, always with an innovative and integrated approach, with permanent focus on biodiversity conservation and rural development. ADEPT’s aim is to give these landscapes and communities an economic future and relevance in the 21st century without sacrificing their traditional culture, sustainability and productivity.
