DESCRIPTION
For over 20 years, the Easter Egg Festival has been held on Maundy Thursday in the village of Drăgoteni in Pădurea Craiului ecotourism destination. It is the oldest festival of its kind in the country. The heart of this event is Dorina Hanza, one of the most passionate keepers of the tradition of egg painting in the village of the Rosia Valley.
Year after year, women and children gather on the eve of the feast to decorate the eggs to be put on the Easter table. The traditional patterns evoke the designs of the folk costume from Bihor, but also various floral motifs. Children compete by age group in the competitions organised for the event.
