DESCRIPTION
Rafting Week is an annual festival held in Ciocănești, a village known for preserving and promoting the traditions from Țara Dornelor. The event, which takes place in August, re-enacts the ancient craft of rafting, essential in the past for transporting wood on Bistrita river, thus reflecting a significant facet of the local cultural identity.
The festival includes traditional raft building or restoration, rafting down the Bistrita River, themed competitions in sport fishing, log drilling and others, folk and traditional music, dancing and tasting of local products, creating an authentic cultural experience for the community and visitors.
