Certification system<\/h1>\n

AER considered of critical importance to create the Ecotourism Certification System as a mechanism for putting into practice the basic principles of ecotourism, in order to ensure nature conservation and sustainable development of local communities through tourism. This is an important step in the wider context given that since March 2003 the World Tourism Organization has recommended governments to support the initiatives that promote the certification in sustainable tourism.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

We have developed a system of certification in ecotourism so as to objectively assess how tourism services and programmes comply with the principles of ecotourism. The criteria are divided into eight groups, which correspond to the principles that govern ecotourism:<\/p>\n

  2. Focus on natural areas<\/li>\n
  3. Heritage interpretation<\/li>\n
  4. Protection of the natural environment<\/li>\n
  5. Nature conservation<\/li>\n
  6. Development of local communities<\/li>\n
  7. Tourist satisfaction<\/li>\n
  8. Correct marketing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
