Route: Sighişoara – Saschiz –Viscri – Criţ – Sighişoara
The tour providers describe the tour as follows: We leave the town of Sighişoara and our tour starts with one of the seven fortified church villages listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999, the village of Saschiz. Saschiz is characterised by a minimum of two remarkable points of interests, the Lutheran church and the peasant fortress on the southern hill, combining in a likely way the ecclesiastical and military architecture.
We continue with a drive to Viscri, the best preserved village included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List, where the architecture of the typical medieval village of south Transylvania was retained in its original form. The entire architectural ensemble of the fortification has a particularly charm and tale. Our tour continues to Criţ. The architecture of the village is identified by an outstanding joint between medieval and neoclassical construction style. Its uniqueness stands in the fact that inside of the medieval fortification system, the church was rebuilt in the architectural style, distinctive for the 19th century. We will end up our tour turning back to Sighişoara.
