Bazna Pig Festival

DESCRIPTION

It is a cultural and culinary event, with dishes based on Bazna pork. The Bazna pig is a breed specific to Transylvania, resulting from the crossing between thoroughbred Mangalița sows and Berk thoroughbred hogs, since 1872. The Bazna pig can be found in traditional households, as it is not of interest for intensive breeding. This breed is appreciated for its delicious meat and reduced cholesterol level. The event is organized by Bazna Local Council on the plateau in front of the Evangelical church in Bazna, Sibiu county. During this two-day event, traditional and pop-rock music concerts take place.
