DESCRIPTION

Trail: Hațeg – General Berthelot (Unirea) – Fărcădin – Tuștea – Densuș – Hățăgel – Totești – Păclișa – Reea – Nălaț Vad – Hațeg

The route starts at “Vila Veche” guesthouse in Haţeg town, on Timișoara Street, then it turns left on Mihai Eminescu Street and leaves the town on Suseni Street. The asphalt road leads us to General Berthelot village displaying on the left the panorama of Haţeg town and Retezat National Park (photo 1, 2). You reach General Berthelot village where on the right side is an old mansion restored by the Romanian Academy. Then, the road passes through Fărcădin and Tuștea villages and continues to Densuş. Cross the bridge over Densuş creek and then turn right. After 800m you get in the centre of the village and you choose the road to the right that leads to the Densuş Church. From the centre of the village it begins the thematic trail Volcanoes’ Road made by the Administration of Dinosaurs Geopark – Haţeg Country. We leave the thematic trail on the right and keep going on the same road that we came from and pass the intersection next to the bridge, from where we go straight ahead to Hăţăgel and then to Toteşti where we get on the main road DN 68 Haţeg – Caransebeş. Then it follows a 600m section on the national road that should be carefully crossed because it does not have a refuge for cyclists. Right at the end of the village we turn right a gravel road which after 1.2 km and several more curves reaches Reea village. We enter again on asphalt road and we descend slowly to Nălaţvad where on the right there is an arboretum and Nopsca Mansion ruins. We then reach again Hațeg on the main road, we pass the roundabout intersection and we cross Galbena River. In the city centre we turn right and then after the hospital on the first street to the left we get back to the guesthouse.
