Geopark Challenge

DESCRIPTION

Geopark Challenge is the greatest sporting event of the spring, taking place on the access trail towards the ruins of the Hațegului Royal Fortress. Its main goal is to promote outdoor activities for a healthy life, regardless of age. The race consists in several trials:

Half marathon race;
Relay race, with teams of 4 athletes, each running 5 km;
10K race (10km race);
Biathlon race, where athletes run for 10 km and cycle for 11.2 km;
Children’s cross race, a short running lap, 1 km long.

The start of the Half Marathon, 10K, Biathlon and Relay races is in Hațeg town.

While in the area, you can also visit the Dinosaurs’ Geopark – Țara Hațegului, the Hațeg Royal Fortress Tower, Țara Hațegului Museum and the Bison Reserve.
