DESCRIPTION
The Rhododendron Festival takes place in June, once the Rhododendron has bloomed on Călimani mountain peaks. This plant, which grows at high altitudes and forms, for two weeks, spectacular natural tapestries, is also known as the mountain peony.
The event gathers the entire community in the area and promotes both the natural and the cultural values of Țara Dornelor. A wide range of activities take place during the festival: sculpture, painting and photography exhibitions, dog shows, artistic shows, book releases, visits to the Călimani National Park Visitor Centre, horseback riding, traditional crafts fair.
