DESCRIPTION

Maramu Guesthouse is located in Breb, Ocna Șugatag, in a valley in the foothills of Gutâi Mountains and the famous Creasta Cocoșului rock formation. The village is far from the national road that links Baia Mare via Cavnic, so you can enjoy the peace of the place, and casual walks outdoors, or you can simply stroll through the village. Our guesthouse is opposite the new orthodox church and we have 8 rooms in total, in 2 buildings, which can accommodate 20 people.
The old, traditional house is made of wood and has 4 rooms with 3 beds each (one double bed and one single bed). Each room is en-suite and traditionally decorated. One of the rooms has a balcony overlooking the church. The new house, more recently built, has 4 en-suite rooms decorated with traditional elements. All the rooms and terraces have free access to WiFi and cable TV. Our very spacious courtyard is the perfect place to enjoy your time spent in Maramureș. We occasionally organise shows with the group “Coconii din Breb” or other folk artists from our village. Our yard is also an ideal place for your children because we have a playground.  Your stay here would not be complete without trying our tasty dishes cooked with local ingredients from our garden or from the neighbourhood. If you want to test your cooking skills, you can use the two barbecues in the yard.
Breb offers numerous opportunities for walks in the village to admire the traditional households and the Maramureș gates, walks around the village, visits to local artisans and cultural or sports events. Nearby there are two churches that are UNESCO World Heritage sites (Budești and Desești), some traditional technical installations (Sârbi), ski slopes (Cavnic), numerous hiking and biking trails, nature reserves and many others. There are also some famous Maramureș landmarks: the Memorial of the Victims of Communism and of the Resistance, and the “Elie Wiesel” Museum in Sighetu Marmației, the Merry Cemetery in Săpânța, Bârsana Monastery or Mocănița (steam engine) on Vaser Valley.
