NORTHERN DOBROGEA - MĂCIN MOUNTAINS
Description
Foto: Victor Musat A stunning natural mosaic, full of history and ethnic elements, this is the Dobrogea we invite you to discover, together with Eco-Romania! Overlapping the border between the two continents of Europe and Asia, Dobrogea and the Măcin Mountains display a harmonious synthesis of rare fauna and flora, typical of the Ponto-Balkan steppes and sub-mediterranean forests. The beauty of the landscape is enhanced by granite rock formations, often with bizarre shapes, giving rise to local legends dating from ancient times.

The Măcin Mountains, amongst the earliest mountains formed on the continent of Europe, await you with evidence of their formation, hundreds of millions of years ago. At their base, the Dobrogean villages still bear traces of an ethno-cultural fabric of great richness. Feast your eyes on amazing landscapes of vivid colors and allow yourself to be tempted to try the local gastronomy, like the famous Dobrogean pie or Dobrogean "tochitura" (mixed grill). And while you are here, don't miss the famous Dobrogean vineyards!

Taste some wine in the cellars of the Royal Court of Măcin, or Jijileanca - a local wine from Jijila, or delight yourself with delicious Angelo cakes and icecream, made in Greci (village founded by italian stone-workers)!
