A visit to Romania's natural protected areas

The National and Natural Parks of Romania are noted for their unique Carpathian Mountain relief, natural and virgin forests (very rare in Europe), flora with numerous endemic species, rich fauna (with brown bear, wolf and lynx populations that exceed 30% of the total large carnivore population in Europe), birds, micro-fauna, unique landscapes, cultural heritage, and the traditional life-style of local communities.

The National Forest Administration - administrator of the Romanian state forests - undertakes the management of 12 National Parks and 10 Natural Parks, covering a total of 847,277 hectares. Its main objectives are the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage, the protection of landscape, and the development of recreational opportunities for the general public.

Together with the Association of Ecotourism in Romania, we invite you to visit Romania's most beautiful protected natural areas...
