- establishing a communication mechanism between the NGOs in the field of nature conservation (Natura 2000 Coalition) and the responsible tourism sector (AER);
- promoting internationally the ecotourism offers within Natura 2000 sites.

Building the partnership for nature conservation and tourism in Romania (read more ...)

Main objectives:
- implementing rural development and nature conservation policies through ecotourism in the
Retezat-Hateg area; Călimani-Vatra Dornei area and Danube Delta;
- implementing the Ecotourism Certification System;
- promoting Romania as an international ecotourism destination;
- raising awareness and lobbying for ecotourism at the national level;
- running a Small Grant Programme;
- running training courses.
Duration: October 2005 – December 2007
Budget:
1. 110.000 € (70.000 euro, funds for the Small Grant Programme run through the Romanian Environmental Partnership Foundation)
2. the equivalent of 200.000 € (funds run directly by USAID for the activities of the project)

Ecotourism in Tara Dornelor – An instrument for sustainable development (read more ...)

Main objective: Develop and implement an approach to sustainable development through responsible tourism, focusing on ecotourism and renewable energy for biodiversity conservation.
Budget: Overal AER budget: 147080 Euro, AER co-financing 14708 Euro
Funding source:
The project is supported by a grant from Norway through the Norwegian
Co-operation Programme for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development.
The project is implemented by Fundatia de Speologie „Club Speo
Bucovina”, in partnership with Community-Based Natural Resource
Management Network (CBNRM Network) and Association of Ecotourism in
Romania (AER).
